About Us

We are three 10th graders who are in a journey to discover the relevance of fear in our lives. Based on the novel, Lord of the Flies, fear is the very force that affects the elements of the novel. For our Language and Literature project, we decided that we would make a blog regarding the concept of fear in the novel and how it relates to the world today.

We are three Indonesian students that was assigned to make a blog regarding the concept of fear that the novel, Lord of the Flies have presented. Since the concept of fear was a specific yet sophisticated theme from the novel, we decided to branch out the theme to further elaborate on it. We discovered more information than we already have from the book.

This project that we have made helped us in our communication skills and how we apply it in most of our ways in creating this blog. We also learned the ATL skill researching because we practiced this when we want to compare or make a point that correlates to either the book or in real life situations or experiences. With the help of our researching skills, it made us realize that it is crucial to have use it in our project.

Fear became the very reason that the boys changed. From the change in mind set to the change in behavior. From a civilized community to a group of savage murderers. Thus, the concept of fear underlines the plot of the Lord of the Flies . Emotions strongly influence the behavior of an individual. Golding used this information to show the readers that the emotion of fear can lead to a behavior that can defend an individual. The plot of the novel Lord of the Flies is to highlight the changes that the boys have experienced while surviving on the uninhabited island. The boys started the journey to survive on the island by setting some rules that can help them realize that they are still civilized people. Fear and Other Themes

"Maybe," [...] "maybe there is a beast." [...] "Maybe it's only us." (Golding, 89) These had been the words of Simon to try and ease the tension against the boys and the existence of a beast. This had been a notable turning point in the novel as it dictates how much Simon had realized of the boys insanity. The main context of this quote was how the boys were worrying too much on a new threat, a beast that one claimed came out of the water, through this the boys had no idea of what to fear next, this part of the novel had marked Ralph and Jack's relationship going downhill as it would be shown how they got split up entirely. Fear had some place in the split up of Ralph and Jack and marking the beginning of savagery vs. civilization.
